Content: 10 ml (enough undiluted for approx. 10 meters of a 20 mm wide strip)
Color: milky white
Material: PTFE-based
Description: The varnish is the ideal anti-outbreak protection for ants; a type of plastic which is also often used as an anti-adhesive – also recommended by Scientists Hölldobler and Wilson as anti-outbreak protection in ant keeping. The ants find no grip on the applied film and slip off. The coating is long-lasting and therefore does not need to be renewed as often as other alternatives.
Advantage:
– If applied cleanly, no renewal is necessary.
– Ideal for glass surfaces.
Disadvantage:
– Not suitable for formicaria with high humidity, as the varnish is water-soluble.
– The varnish is not so suitable for plastic surfaces as these are self-greasing.
– Application must be practiced beforehand, as the “varnished” surface must not become rough or scratched.
Application: Shake well before use. The varnish can be used as supplied or diluted with water up to a maximum of 1:10. It can be applied with a brush or simply dripped carefully onto the surfaces to be treated. The film should be about 3 times as wide at the edge as the ants are long. The easiest way to do this is to mask the area with adhesive tape and apply the paint lying on the side of the tank. The drying time per side is approx. 45 minutes, but can vary slightly depending on the thickness of the application.
Important note: Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and consult a doctor. Do not smoke during application. Use only in well ventilated areas. Keep out of the reach of children! The paint can irreversibly change its consistency at sub-zero temperatures. We therefore only ship at temperatures above 0°C!
