Description: | Extremely small, interesting ants. Colony size usually no more than 200 workers. A whole colony often lives in an acorn or in a piece of bark. Very active and beautiful to look at. Avoids conflicts with other ants, so can be socialized very well with other larger species. Attention: Since Temnothorax lives directly on the ground, the colony needs daily temperature changes. The relatively realistic representation of day and night temperatures as well as summer and winter is important. Very resistant to cold! Temnothorax can be kept outside or overwintered without any problems or precautions. |
